Principal's Corner

February 23, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Next week we will kick off ‘Read Across America Week’ at Aldene. Our Student Council, under the direction of Mrs. Antonelli, has organized several events. Student Council members will be reading to the entire student body in our kick off assembly on March 2. There will be several guest readers in school, and an entire week of Dr. Seuss themed activities, each day being a celebration of one of Dr. Seuss’ books.

We will focus on the character trait of acceptance in March and April. At our all-school assembly, students will learn ways to be accepting of others and also practice working and playing with students who may not be their usual friend.

Students will the opportunity to shop for reading material at the Book Fair the week of March 5.  A big thank you to the PTO for making this possible. The second grade Wax Museum is planned for March 1, which is always a wonderful event, and there will be Talent Show auditions on March 23 and 26. More information on these events will be forthcoming. Thank you to the PTO for volunteering to run the Talent Show this year!

Please remember, students will be dismissed at 12:30 on Monday, March 12, as it is a Professional Development Day for our teachers and staff. Be sure to review dismissal plans with your child if there is any change in routine.
