Principal's Corner

October 1, 2017

Dear Aldene Families,

There are many exciting happenings at Aldene in October.  We kicked off the Week of Respect on October 1 with an activity each day to remind students about being respectful. These include ‘Start with Hello’ to make sure all feel welcome,  Silly Sock Day to celebrate diversity, Hat Day to remind students to put a lid on bullying, No Drama Pajama Day and Aldene Spirit Day on Friday. Our second grade students will present an assembly highlighting what respect looks like and sounds like in school. Students will also meet with their ‘buddy’ to work on a respect project. All students at Aldene have a buddy with whom they are connected beginning in kindergarten.

Students who participated in the Summer Reading Program will be celebrated this month and will receive certificates, coupons for ice cream and a new book of their choice. We also had a raffle and five lucky students won an ’Aldene Has Heart’ T-shirt.

Please note the following activities in the month of October.
Summer Reading Celebration-October 10
Fire Truck Visit- October 10
Pumpkin and Mum Sale- October 23
PTO Movie Night- October 26
Halloween Parade- October 31

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Sincerely,
Sloan Scully
