Principal's Corner

January 9, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Happy 2018 to all of our Aldene families! I hope you all had a restful and family-filled break. We were delighted to see the students come back to school rested and ready to work hard.

Please join me in congratulating Ms. Alex Marintho, our Governor’s Teacher of the Year and Ms. Becky Lataweic, our Governor’s Educational Services Professional of the Year. They are both very dedicated professionals whom we are fortunate to have on our staff. We are very proud of all of our talented staff and had several accomplished educators at Aldene who were nominated for this honor. Thank you to those of you who took the time to submit a nomination.

Excellence is the character education trait that we are practicing in January and February. At our all-school assembly this week, the students from Ms. Nese and Ms. Martinho’s classes taught us how we can try our best in all that we do in school and at home. Look for an Excellence Heart to come home with your child.

We will continue to have the children participate in outdoor recess whenever the weather cooperates. Please be sure to dress your child with a hat, gloves, scarf and warm coat.  Physical activity is an important factor in keeping our bodies and brains healthy and the students enjoy the opportunity to get outside and play.

Energize with Math will begin for students in grades three through five on Tuesday, January 30 from 2:50 to 3:30.  Please send in your permission slip so your child can participate in this effective and worthwhile program.

Please make note of the following important dates for January:
January 15- No school in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Day
January 30- Energize with Math begins

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Best Regards,

Sloan Scully
Principal
